In the late 1990s, he began acting by appearing in various off-Broadway plays. Bad Company and Kissing Jessica Stein were two of his earliest film roles. His breakthrough role was as the repentant criminal Ricky Nash in 2002’s Barbershop; he returned to the role in 2004’s Barbershop 2: Back in Business.
In 2003’s 2 Fast 2 Furious, he portrayed Slap Jack from the first film in the Fast and the Furious franchise. Ealy co-starred with DMX in the 2004 film Never Die Alone. He also appeared in the music video for Mariah Carey’s 2005 hit single “Get Your Number” from the album The Emancipation of Mimi.
