Ethan Slater Slater’s Versatile Acting Career
Slater made his Broadway debut in the title role of the “SpongeBob SquarePants” production from 2017 to 2018, following his off-Broadway work in “Baghdaddy” and other shows. Slater won a Drama Desk Award and was nominated for a Tony for his performance in the part.
Before reuniting with Grande and the rest of the “Wicked” ensemble to adapt the play, he returned to performing off-Broadway, appearing in “Camelot,” “Assassins,” and “Goodnight, Oscar.” Slater attended both Charles E. Smith Jewish Day School and Georgetown Day School while growing up in Maryland with her two sisters and two stepbrothers.
From there, he moved on to study at Vassar College in Poughkeepsie, New York. The actor, born in 1992, was a college sophomore when he was cast as the title character in “SpongeBob SquarePants.”
