Synopsis of Babylon Berlin Season 5
A regulated city in the midst of chaos. Changes are occurring on all levels of society, from the government to the criminal underworld to the economy. The Weimar Republic is only a few years old, and its future is uncertain due to speculation and inflation.
In stark contrast to the rising poverty and unemployment rates, the city is home to a vibrant nightlife and an outpouring of creative energies. Young Cologne detective Gereon Rath has been sent to Berlin to conduct an undercover investigation into the Mafia’s porno network there.
What seems like a straightforward extortion case at first will have far-reaching ramifications for Gereon and his friends and associates. As Rath, Bruno Wolter, and Charlotte Ritter unearth a network of corruption, drug dealing, and arms trafficking, Rath faces an existential crisis as he is split between loyalty and exposing the truth.
