Alan is now finishing up post-production on his future comedy series or movie, The Next Cassavetes. In the comic series, the 72-year-old plays the role of the SAG representative. Although the Wanderers star is physically healthy, he has been actively engaged in the fight against breast cἀncer for many years. Since 1999, he has held an annual fundraiser in Omaha, Nebraska, with his ex-wife Marg Helgenberger under the name Marg and Alan’s Celebrity Weekend.
Alan and his ex-wife, herself an actress of some distinction, got involved in the fight against breast cἀncer after learning about Marg’s mother’s 27-year ordeal with the dἰsease. After seeing a family member suffer from the condition for nearly three decades, Rosenberg and Helgenberger resolved to do something to aid others with the same ailment. Alan Rosenberg’s Recurring TV Appearances
Rosenberg played Turkey in the 1979 film The Wanderers. His role as Ira Woodbine on Cybill made him a household name. His most recent role is as Alvin Masterson in the judicial drama The Guardian.
In NPR’s production of The Empire Strikes Back, Rosenberg lent his voice to the role of bounty hunter Boba Fett. Besides his role as the deranged “Mad Bomber” in the 1986 cult classic Stewardess School, Paul Bartel’s screwball comedy Not for Publication (1984) with Nancy Allen also features Rosenberg.
He made his TV debut in 1991’s The Boys. In 1995, he was nominated for an Emmy for his guest appearance on the popular drama series ER. In 1998, he played the group’s longtime manager Shelly Berger in the miniseries The Temptations.
In 1999, he made a recurrent appearance on Chicago Hope as Stuart Brickman, the hospital’s attorney. He became a series regular midway through the final season, and his name was included in the opening credits.
Off-Broadway he was in Isn’t It Romantic, and on Broadway, he was in What’s Wrong With This Picture and Lost in Yonkers. He recently appeared in Partners, a play by Allan Katz, at the Delaware Theatre Company.
