Alyson Stoner, A Disney Star, Discloses A Children Show Fired Them After They Came Out

Alyson Stoner, who used to be a star on the Disney Channel, came out as pansexual in 2018. They wrote an article for Teen Vogue about how they fell in love with a woman. TooFab says that essay cost them their job as well. Stoner talked about how they were afraid to come out at the time in a new interview on the I’m Literally Screaming with Spencewuah show.

They were lucky to have Christian bosses who helped them and believed in them. They were “very loving, supportive, and helpful” when they said they wanted to live as their true self. Managers knew that it could hurt the young actor’s future, though.

The former Disney star said that their bosses told them that “it could affect not only how people see us, but also our ability to get jobs.”

The bosses were right, too. Stoner said, “I did end up getting fired from a children’s show,” but they didn’t say which show.

Stoner said that they were fired because “now that they knew I was gay, they thought it was unsafe for me to be around kids.” So, there was definitely discrimination there,” Stoner said, “but the beauty far outweighs the hate comments and death threats.”
