Will Hurd, whose given name is William Ballard Hurd, is an American politician who was born on August 19th, 1977. He represented Texas’s 23rd congressional district from 2015 to 2021 and previously worked as a clandestine operative for the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA).
Hurd spent the years 2000–2009 employed at the CIA. After leaving the CIA, he attempted to enter Congress in 2010, but he lost in the primary runoff.
In 2014, Hurd made another run for Congress, and this time he won. He won reelection in 2016 and again in 2018, but he will not run for Congress again in 2020.
Hurd is the only Republican in Congress who represents a district that touches the Mexican border as of January of this year. Hurd served as the lone Republican of African descent in the House of Representatives from 2019 to 2021.
During his time in Congress, he earned a reputation for his bipartisanship and knowledge of technological and cyber security issues.
