In Season 3, Episode 21, the actress Dora Madison Burge made her Chicago Fire debut as a guest actor. She portrayed Jessica “Chili” Chilton, a troubled paramedic who was Peter Mills’ (Charlie Barnett) replacement.
Soon after, Dora was allowed to play Chili regularly until Season 4, Episode 14. Many viewers are still perplexed by her shocking departure, which occurred after the episode had been taped.

Seasons 3 and 4 of Chicago Fire showed an exciting time in Chili’s life. She wins over Christopher Herrmann (David Eigenberg) in Season 3 with a brilliant business plan for a beverage-cooling device she partially stole from her father.
Christopher even offers to use money confiscated from his pub, Molly’s, to pay for some of the production costs. They eventually discover the idea has already been copyrighted, but the encounter strengthens their bond.
In Season 4, Episode 5, Jimmy Borrelli (Steven R. McQueen), Chili gives him an impulsive kἰss. However, her relationship with the potential paramedic and fireman is briefly sustained. After Chili rejects suggestions on handling the fling at work, Jimmy breaks up with her a few episodes later.
In Season 4, Chili’s coworkers discover that she has been abμsing alc∅hol to cope with l∅sing her twin sister, Alissa “Jellybean” Martin (also portrayed by Dora Madison Burge), who pἀssed away tragἰcally.
In a Season 4 episode, Alissa’s deἀd body was found in her apartment. The trἀgedy signaled the start of Chili’s decline. She struggled more and more to continue her duties as the paramedic in charge of Ambulance 61 while simultaneously attempting to move on from the tragἰc l∅ss.

What Made Dora Madison Burge Leave ‘Chicago Fire’?
Chili’s character was kἰlled off because the writers wanted to spice up the mid-season episodes, according to Matt Olmstead, the showrunner of Chicago Fire, in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter. They got precisely the buzz they wanted when the plot turned unexpectedly.
Matt says, “[There are] no plans for Chili to come back right now. You can’t just save up the big moments and departures and entrances for characters at episode one and episode 22. It almost conditions the audience to be like OK, we’ll tune in for the first episode and tune in for the finale because not much is going to happen in between because the writers are too timid to make any kind of moves.”
He continued, “So you can threaten people leaving, and you can kind of rattle your saber here and there. Unless you follow through on it, no one is going to believe you.”
Matt told the media that letting go of Dora was difficult. He remarked, “It’s hard. We liked the actress a lot, and she did a great job.”
