American electrical engineer, roboticist, and TV host Grant Masaru Imahara (October 23, 1970 – July 13, 2020). Throughout the course of the television show MythBusters, he created, built and operated a wide variety of robots and equipment intended to test various urban legends.
Imahara began his career at Lucasfilm, where he had engineering roles in the THX department and in visual effects at Industrial Light & Magic. Imahara pἀssed away unexpectedly at the age of 49. There was no immediate word on what caused his deἀth. This news about Grant breaks our hearts. In Hollywood, Imahara was famous for his contributions to the fields of electronics and animatronics. He spent a lot of time in the Bay Area, where the set of “MythBusters” is located, working and living. His most recent role is that of co-host in the Netflix series “White Rabbit Project.”
Discovery mentioned Imahara’s commitment to spreading joy through his work on its website. The news outlet claimed he was an expert on the Star Wars robot R2-D2 and that he composed the Energizer Bunny’s catchy theme song.
From Season 3 in 2005 all the way through Season 14 in 2014, Imahara was a regular on “MythBusters,” making appearances in over 200 episodes. He was invited to join the show and ended up working on the Build Team alongside Kari Byron and Tory Belleci.
