Iam Tongi was crowned the winner after a three-hour climax that kept viewers on the edge of their seats. Tongi won the singing competition on Sunday (21 May) after a spectacular performance of his original song “I’ll Be Seeing You.”
Megan Danielle, who came in second, and Colin Stough, who came in third, were among his competitors. Tongi sang “Don’t Let Go” when host Ryan Seacrest announced him as the winner, to the delight of his family, the judges, and the cheering crowd.
Before, Tongi had the judges in tears during his audition as he sang “Monsters” in memory of his late father. It wasn’t that I was concerned about you last till the end of the song; rather, it was that I was concerned about us. As Katy Perry remarked, “What a fantastic song to pick,” Judge Lionel Richie gushed, “Your daddy is very proud.” You’ve reduced adult men to tears.
Just seeing you miss your dad stinks, and I can’t take it because I lost my dad and my nephew moved in with me. Wow, dude, your voice is amazing. Luke Bryan said, “You did everything perfectly, and I love you, and I want to see you have fun.”
Perry told in a group interview earlier this month that the competition was intense, but that Tongi had something special.
She said:
“I think that the top three is strong, I think Megan Danielle has earned her right to be there and she’s got a new beautiful confidence.”
Perry continued: “When Iam comes on, there is no mistaking the atmosphere in the room. This man has undeniable personality. Simply put, he possesses extraordinary power. Close to being inexplicable. It’s a crucial element. There’s no denying that you were destined for greatness in this field.
