Jimmy Butler Leads Heat to Victory in Game 2

The Miami Heat defeated the Boston Celtics 111-105 on Friday night (19 May) to grab a commanding 2-0 series lead in the Eastern Conference Finals. Jimmy Butler scored 27 points, including a pair of baskets late in the fourth quarter that put the Heat ahead for good.

Bam Adebayo scored 22 points, grabbed 17 boards, and dished out nine assists, while Caleb Martin scored 25 points off the bench to help eighth-seeded Miami defeat Boston. Sunday will be Game 3.

For the Boston Celtics, Jayson Tatum had 34 points, 13 boards, and eight helpers. But in the fourth quarter, the Celtics’ star sh0t 0 for 3 and committed two turnovers as Boston lost an 89-77 lead on the way to a second home loss in three nights.

With 16 points on 7-for-23 shooting and 1 for-5 shooting and 2 turnovers in the fourth quarter, Jaylen Brown was unable to prevent Miami from beating Boston by a score of 36-22.

By early in the fourth quarter, the Celtics’ lead had grown to 12. After going forehead-to-forehead with Grant Williams, Butler scored to put Boston up 96-87 and then converted the ensuing free throw for a three-point play.

After Tatum missed from long range, Butler drove to the basket to make it a four-point game, and he scoffed at Williams’ attempt to pull him off his game with insults. Miami got rid of it.

Butler was charged with an offensive foul after landing on a missed 3-pointer and kicking Marcus Smart, extending Miami’s deficit to 98-96. Coach of the Heat Erik Spoelstra was defeated in a challenge.

A 17-footer he sh0t tied the game at 100, then a little fadeaway he made put Miami ahead. With with a minute remaining, Adebayo scored on a putback slam to make it 105-100 after Max Strus converted one of two free throws.

After falling behind by eight points in the first quarter, Boston went on a 21-2 rally to end the game with an 11-point victory.
