Speak Now Release Date

Speak Now Release Date

Swifties, your sleuthing and easter egg hunting have paid off: Taylor Swift’s Speak Now (Taylor’s Version) is up next! Friday night 5 May, during the Nashville stop of her Eras Tour, Swift announced that she would be reissuing her critically acclaimed third studio album, Speak Now.

“I think rather than me speaking about it,” she teased as fans began to scream, “I thought I would just show you. So, if you would direct your attention to the back, big screen that we have.” Behind her, the screen read: “Speak Now. Taylor’s Version. Available July 7.” Fans immediately flooded social media to post screenshots and live footage of the big reveal.

Soon after, Swift tweeted, “I first made Speak Now, completely self-written, between the ages of 18 and 20. The songs that came from this time in my life were marked by their brutal honesty, unfiltered diaristic confessions and wild wistfulness.”

She added, “I love this album because it tells a tale of growing up, flailing, flying and crashing… and living to speak about it. With six extra songs I’ve sprung loose from the vault, I absolutely cannot wait to celebrate Speak Now (Taylor’s Version) with you on July 7th.”

Speak Now’s title tune was performed for the first time in Tampa last month, and before the show, she informed the audience, “I’ve been thinking a lot about one of my albums recently.” Recently, I’ve been thinking a lot about one of my albums. Lots of thoughts are racing through my head.

Another apparent indication was offered by Swift during “Cardigan.” As she sang, “I knew you’d linger like a tattoo kiss, I knew you’d haunt all of my what-ifs,” the singer smirked right at the camera during the word “haunt,” a clear allusion to the album’s hidden track “Haunted.”

“How many days did you spend thinking about #NashvilleTSTheErasTour? Do you find it dizzying?” wrote her official fan account Taylor Nation on Instagram, teasing the release with lyrics to “Lavender Haze” and a purple heart.

Fans have been anticipating the release of her new album, Speak Now, thanks to her cryptic comments and the abundance of Swiftian “easter eggs” in recent albums.

Many clues might be found in the music video for “Bejeweled” by Midnights. Two songs by Speak Now, “Enchanted” and “Long Live,” both featured in the video, were accompanied by string instruments.

Second, she selects the third floor (Speak Now) by pressing a purple button in an elevator whose floors are decorated to reflect her albums. Following the blue for Midnights, the red for Red (Taylor’s Version), and the gold for Fearless (Taylor’s Version), the 13th level is tinted purple, leading fans to wonder if Speak Now (Taylor’s Version) will be the next color scheme.

And what about the further fan speculation that Speak Now was coming up? The music video for “Bejeweled” was released on Speak Now’s 12th anniversary, and in one scene, she wears “SN” hair clips. The video’s fairytale vibe also matches that of her 2011 Speak Now tour.

The country-pop album Speak Now was published in 2010, and it includes hit singles including “Mine,” “Mean,” “Story of Us,” and “Enchanted.”

The reissues of Fearless and Red will be followed by the 2021 publication of Taylor’s Version.
