The actress and her husband of nearly 15 years, Marc Silverstein, have decided to divorce. On the latest edition of her podcast Busy Philipps Is Doing Her Best, Philipps revealed that she and Silverstein had split in February 2021.
Although many celebrity couples make public announcements of their relationship status, the Dawson’s Creek actress stated she and Silverstein were hesitant to do so.
We would never consider making such a public pronouncement. We were both genuinely sickened from it,” she claimed. Whether you live a public or private life, or simply post on social media, the bottom line is that you have to do what’s best for you and your loved ones.
To protect their children’s anonymity, they ultimately decided to keep quiet. It’s a trip. Jour-ney. It’s been quite a ride,” Philipps reflected.
Birdie Leigh Philipps and Cricket Pearl Silverstein are the children of actress Busy Philipps and producer Howard Silverstein, who tied the knot on June 16, 2007.
Philipps agreed with St. Onge’s assessment that he and Silverstein have “the least separated people” she’s ever seen. Philipps detailed the difficulties in her marriage, including her exasperation with Silverstein’s hands-off attitude to parenting and a point when she requested a divorce, in her memoir This Will Only Hurt a Little, published in 2018.
Philipps is now featured in the Peacock Network’s musical comedy Girls5eva. In season 2, her character Summer is dealing with the aftermath of her divorce and the challenges of single life.

Philipps recently told Entertainment Weekly that she and her ex-husband Kev (Andrew Rannells) have a flashback to a virginity-focused song that is one of her favorite numbers from the new season.
