Who is Adam Cole?

Born on July 5, 1989, Austin Kirk Jenkins is an American professional wrestler who goes by the ring name Adam Cole and is presently signed to AEW. His time spent with WWE and ROH further contributed to his fame.

Cole joined ROH in 2009 and over the next eight years won the title three times making history in the process. In addition, he won the ROH Survival of the Fittest tournament in 2014 and has held the ROH World Television Championship.

Cole has also competed for a number of smaller promotions including Chikara, CZW where he won the CZW World Junior Heavyweight Championship and PWG where he won the PWG World Championship and set the record for the longest reign of any PWG World Champion.

He also participated in the Bullet Club stable in New Japan Pro-Wrestling. Cole was under contract with WWE from 2017 through 2021 during which time he appeared on the NXT brand. The Undisputed Era includes Bobby Fish, Kyle O’Reilly and eventually Roderick Strong under Cole’s leadership.

The Adam Cole Story: From Combat Zone Wrestling to the WWE

D. J. Hyde and Jon Dahmer founded the Combat Zone Wrestling (CZW) Wrestling Academy where Jenkins received his wrestling education. While a senior in high school, he formally enrolled at the Academy on November 14, 2007.

He first appeared in CZW on June 21, 2008. Cole and Tyler Veritas teamed up frequently in 2009 and in February they won a tag team gauntlet match at X: Decade of Destruction – 10th Anniversary by defeating the teams of The S.A.T., L.J. Cruz and Izzy Kensington.

Carelle won the MCW Rage Television Championship on August 7, 2009, after a match against Qenann Creed. He was champion for more than four months before losing it to Ryan McBride on December 26. Two months later, on February 27, 2010, he recovered the championship from McBride under his new ring name, Adam Cole.

Cole retained the title until July 31, when he and Tyler Hilton lost against Cobian and Tommy Dreamer effectively handing the title to Cobian. Cole won the WXW C4 Hybrid Championship on November 7, 2009, in Allentown, Pennsylvania by defeating VSK.

After five months as champion, he was dethroned by Dave Rose on March 6, 2010. Cole won the first annual 16-man Battle of Gettysburg tournament hosted by Ground Breaking Wrestling on November 20 and 21, 2009. Cole secured a title match against defending champion Greg Excellent in April of 2010, however he ultimately lost.

On May 1, 2010, at Evolve 3: Rise Or Fall, Cole made his debut for the Evolve promotion losing to Sami Callahan. At Chikara’s Young Lions Cup tournament on August 28, 2010, Cole made an appearance. He advanced to the semi-finals by eliminating Kyle O’Reilly in the fourth round, but Obariyon eventually knocked him from the competition.

Cole competed in the 2011 Super 8 Tournament hosted by the East Coast Wrestling Association on April 30. He advanced to the championship match by beating Sami Callahan and Austin Aries but ultimately fell to Tommaso Ciampa.
