Joshua Brandon Crane was born on July 14, 1992 and dἰed on July 29th, 2022. Joshua was raised in Chico, California. In 2010, he completed high school at Chico. After finishing high school, Joshua enlisted in the United States Navy and became an HM3.
From 2010 to 2014, he served at Camp Pendleton and Okinawa, Japan. His fellow soldiers knew him as “Doc” Crane. Joshua left an impression on everyone he met with his wit, honesty and magnetic charm.
After his time in the service was up, Joshua attended Chico State University and earned a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry. After graduating from high school, he enrolled in the University of California, Davis, Medical School to fulfill his lifelong goal of becoming a doctor.
Joshua devoted his time and energy to the causes he cared about most: helping the homeless and the poor, healing the broken and the forgotten and speaking up for the voiceless.
On September 8, 2021, Joshua wrote:
“Some days will be lovely some days will brim with magic, the sky will soften and you’ll feel your spirit all the way to your feet. You’ll feel your life being restored the day she smiles. It will be necessary to work, however, on the majority of days. Frustration and disappointment will ooze from most days. It’s the setbacks that lead to success, so dive in and put away some money.”
Carol Crane (his mother), Terrie Mays (his grandmother), Jessica Crane (his sister), Thomas Crane (his brother), and Lane and Levi Mowles, Peyton, Logan, Reagan and Thomas II Crane (his nieces and nephews) are among those who will miss him.
Reports indicates A Chico local who dr0wned on the American River on July 29 is being remembered as an “extraordinary young man” who was always there to aid others around him.
According to reports, 30-year-old former Sacramento resident Joshua Crane leaped into the river without a life jacket. He disappeared under the water right below the San Juan rapids while trying to save two other swimmers.
The other two survivors made it to safety, but Crane’s b0dy was later pulled from the water. The accident occurred on the American River’s San Juan. Metro Fire of Sacramento officials say they saw two persons struggling in the water.
“This river could potentially be unforgiving,” warned Sacramento’s Metro Fire Capt. Parker Wilbourn. According to Wilbourn, 30-year-old Joshua Brandon Crane saw the two swimmers having trouble and stepped in to help. However, the other two were spared while Crane perἰshed.
The UC Davis Medical School confirmed Crane’s status as a fourth-year medical student in a Facebook post.
