Mark Sheehan Death

Guitarist and co-founder of The Script Mark Sheehan passed away at the age of 46. The heartbreaking news was shared by the band on social media on Friday 14 April.

“Much loved husband, father, brother, bandmate and friend Mark Sheehan passed away today in hospital after a brief illness,” the Instagram post read. “The family and group ask fans to respect their privacy at this tragic time.”

The band was formed by Sheehan, Danny O’Donoghue, and Glen Power in 2001 in Dublin. Both Sheehan and O’Donoghue were previous members of the band Mytown and had known each other since they were kids.

The band’s most well-known songs include “Breakeven,” “Hall of Fame,” and “The Man Who Can’t Be Moved,” and they went on to release six studio albums.

Both the United Kingdom and Ireland have certified their debut album as the best-selling record of all time. Sunsets & Full Moons, released in 2019, was their most recent album to feature original music. A single named “Dare You to Doubt Me” was released by the group in September 2017.

O’Donoghue revealed to Sunday World in May 2021 that The Script performed a string of gigs in the United States without Sheehan in 2021 and early 2022 so that he could spend more time with his family.

“His children needed a father and his wife needed a husband,” he said.

“He’s been the engine of The Script for such a long time, [I told him] that if you want to take a bit of time out for your family you are more than welcome to, and I insist on you going and doing it,” he said, adding that he returned “refreshed.”

Pink’s June U.K. tour was supposed to feature the band as the opening act. Cameron, Avery and Lil Sheehan are his and Rina’s children who will carry on without him.
