Gangsta's Paradise Rapper Cause of Dea†h

Gangsta’s Paradise Rapper “Coolio” whose real name was Artis Leon Ivey Jr. passed away on September 28, 2022, at a friend’s house in Los Angeles. At the time of dea†h his age was 59.

Firefighters and paramedics were dispatched to the 2900 block of South Chesapeake Ave. at 4 p.m. local time, according to Capt. Erik Scott of the Los Angeles Fire Department. They found a man who wasn’t breathing when they came, so they tried to revive him for 45 minutes.

A statement provided to CNN from Coolio’s talent manager Sheila Finegan:

“We are saddened by the loss of our dear friend and client. He touched the world with the gift of his talent and will be missed profoundly. Thank you to everyone worldwide who has listened to his music and to everyone who has been reaching out regarding his passing. Please have Coolio’s loved ones in your thoughts and prayers.”

Actor Lou Diamond Phillips also expressed his sadness, recalling his time spent with the musician. Phillips Tweeted, “I am absolutely stunned. Coolio was a friend and one of the warmest, funniest people I’ve ever met”.

According to the reports, “Gangsta’s Paradise” rapper Coolio d!ed of an accidental overdose of fent@nyl, her0in and meth@mphetamine last year. Cardiomyopathy, a disorder that makes it harder for the heart to pump blood to the body, was also listed as a “significant condition” by the county agency.

Coolio was found to have d!ed from a combination of factors, including acute asthma and heavy cigarette use, according to the investigation. On Thursday, April 6, 2023, Coolio’s longtime manager Jarez Posey revealed the rapper’s cause of dea†h.

For his solo rap performance on “Gangsta’s Paradise” which sampled Stevie Wonder’s “Pastime Paradise” from 1976 and was featured on the soundtrack to the Michelle Pfeiffer picture “Dangerous Minds” Coolio was awarded a Grammy in 1995.

Coolio’s birthplace was Monessen, Pennsylvania, but he eventually settled in Compton, California. According to interviews, he began rapping when he was 15 and knew by the age of 18 that he had found his life’s calling. Before committing himself fully to the hip-hop culture, Coolio went to community college.

According to Luminate, he has sold 4.8 million albums over the course of his career and his music has been streamed on-demand 978 million times. Six Grammy Awards were considered for him.

Because of his one-of-a-kind persona, he was able to become a cultural mainstay by doing things like voiceover work for cartoons and writing the theme song for a popular Nickelodeon show.

The estate of the late rapper Coolio has announced their intention to release a studio album of his unfinished work from the days leading up to his untimely dea†h.
