The host of Today doesn’t want any more kids. She was overjoyed to spend time with her grandmother in such a personal setting because they haven’t had much quality time together as of late.

Recently, Jenna Bush Hager has discussed her ectopic pregnancy and the physical toll it took on her body, including the several abdominal surgeries she underwent, with her trainer.

Jenna Bush shared a post in which she said: “Our March #ReadWithJenna selection “Black Candle Women” is all about generations of women, and @jennabhager”.

The 41-year-old Today show host and mom of three met down with Amanda Bartolomeo, creator of the dance exercise program CorePlay for a health segment that aired on Tuesday, March 28, 2023, while she was on a family vacation. Bush Hager said:

“When I first met Amanda, we started talking about finding your core, and what that means metaphorically for women and obviously, literally”.

She continued:

“I had one years ago before I got pregnant with Mila. I hadn’t really engaged my core because I’ve had six or seven stomach surgeries with C-sections, appendicitis, ectopic pregnancy. And so, I had sort of lost that part of me. But also as a woman, it was a really hard thing to go through.”

She said When a fertilized egg develops outside of the uterus, this is known as an ectopic pregnancy. The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists reports that while 90% of these implantations take place in a fallopian tube, they can also take place in the abdomen, cervix, ovary and cesarean scar.

If the place of implantation ruptures during an ectopic pregnancy, it could be fatal and require emergency surgery right away.

Bush Hager who is married to Henry Hager and has children “Mila, Poppy and Hal” opened up about the pain of her ectopic pregnancy in an interview. She said:

“It was my first pregnancy. I was so excited, I remember I was in California and I started to feel sick. I was with my best friend and Henry said, Take a pregnancy test. You’re with Mia. You’re with your sister. Find out if you’re pregnant.”

Although declaring she would keep the news to herself, Bush Hager told roughly seven individuals when she found out she was expecting. She explained:

“I had no idea what an ectopic pregnancy was, They looked up and the baby was in my fallopian tube. My husband was out of town. My sister was in Africa. And, so, I went into emergency surgery and I had my fallopian tube removed and I was alone.”

Bush Hager met Bartolomeo ten years later after she had experienced an ectopic pregnancy. The trainer said:

“Just reaching out and telling people around me what I went through, made me realize, how many other women have gone through it, and that there is such a community of women that can show up for each other”.

The former first daughter has been dancing with Bartolomeo for about two years and she attributes most of her physical improvement to that. Bush Hager said:

“I think that’s the thing about women’s health is that it’s not just about looking skinny or looking a certain way or fitting into your jeans. It’s about feeling healthy all the way around”.

Bartolomeo said:

“She loves dance cardio and I love dancing, so it’s a fantastic combo, while describing how she helped her client strengthen her core in a cheerful, fun way during group exercise”.

Bush Hager also mentioned that she makes it a priority to show up for their workouts regardless of her schedule since she always feels better afterward. She said:

“Sometimes you’re like, Oh gosh, I’m so tired. The kids were up all night. There’s like a million excuses, but the second I would meet Amanda, she was smiling and we would start dancing.

“It was like whatever was hanging on us from the days before, from the night before, would release”.

Bush Hager also mentioned that she makes it a priority to show up for their workouts regardless of her schedule since she always feels better afterward. She explained:

“When I was in Texas over a recent Christmas, my sister was reading my diary and she found an entry when I was in fourth grade, so the same age as my eldest daughter. I was nearly 10 and my New Year’s resolution was to lose weight”.

“Barbara actually hid the journal from me because it broke her little heart to know that I felt that way at that young age”.

Bush said that even while she may not have felt the cutest in some of the photos from her childhood, she still likes to look at them and remind herself that she was a funny, smart and kind little girl. Bush Hager said it was tough being forced into the spotlight once her father, George W. Bush, was elected president in 2000.

She said:

“My dad became president when we were 18 years old. We were freshmen in college, so we were definitely feeling the freshman 15. I think that was a little weird, and to see our pictures on the cover of magazines was a strange thing”.

According to Bush Hager, former First Lady Laura Bush has always been an outstanding example of positive body image. She said:

“My mom never talked about diet. She never talked about the way she looked. She definitely would never self-hate in front of us. I want to make sure that I’m modeling that type of love to my kids”.

“Mila and I we’ll go for walks. They see me work out. They play sports. I encourage them to stay active, but we’re not sitting around talking bad about ourselves”.

Bush Hager said that she is happy with both the child she used to be and the @dult she has become because of Bartolomeo. She said:

“I think overall I feel pretty good about myself. I feel like I put the emphasis on the right things”.
