Bobby Wagner Return to Seahawks

On Saturday 25 March, the Seattle Seahawks revealed that linebacker Bobby Wagner has signed a free-agent contract to return to the organization after spending the previous year with the Los Angeles Rams.

Many outlets have reported that Wagner agreed to a one-year, $7 million contract.

“Maaaan! Glad to be back in Seattle! It means a lot to be able to come back! Let’s get to work,” Wagner wrote on Instagram.

After a disappointing 5-12 season in 2022, the Rams are restructuring their roster and trying to straighten out their cap issue.

Wagner and the Rams mutually decided to end their relationship last month, only one year into the $50 million, five-year contract he signed in the offseason before last. Eight times a Pro Bowler and six times an All-Pro during his time in Seattle, Wagner was a member of the Seahawks’ Super Bowl XLVIII championship team but claimed he was not informed of his release at the time.

The Seahawks traded Russell Wilson to the Broncos last season but retained a competitive record thanks in large part to the play of Wagner, whom the team drafted in the second round of the 2012 NFL Draft.

As the Seahawks starting quarterback for the first time since 2014, Geno Smith guided the team to a 9-8 record and a wild card berth. He was named to the Pro Bowl for the first time after completing 69.8 percent of his throws for 4,282 yards and 30 touchdowns with 11 interceptions.

Seattle paid Smith $75 million over three years with a maximum value of $105 million, although there is no guaranteed money after the first year.

Wagner led the Rams with 140 tackles and a career-high six sacks last season. He also had 10 tackles for a loss, 10 quarterback hits, and two interceptions. In 11 seasons, he has made 1,523 tackles.
