Bernadine Kampschnieder was born in West Point, Nebraska, on April 16, 1941, to Ben and Catherine (Ortmeier) Franzluebbers. She attended grade school in Monterey and then high school in Dodge, where she developed many lifelong friendships.

On April 24, 1962, she was united in marriage to Mel Kampschnieder.  Bernadine worked for the Columbus Public Schools Food Service for many years and then moved on to Dale Electronics for the majority of her professional career.

She was employed there for 38 years. Throughout her life, she enjoyed traveling and being with her friends and family. Her life was full of love, laughter, and joy. Bernadine was a beloved mother, grandmother, and greatgrandmother. She was a faithful member of St. Bonaventure Church and was proud of her Catholic faith.

She was an active member of the community and was involved in many organizations, including the Knights of Columbus Ladies Auxiliary, the American Legion Auxiliary and the VFW Auxiliary.

Bernadine passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 21, 2023, at Brookestone Acres in Columbus, Nebraska. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 am on Tuesday, March 28, 2023, at St. Bonaventure Church. Visitation will be held Monday from 57 pm with a 7:00 pm Vigil service, all at McKown Funeral Home.

Burial will be in All Saints Cemetery. Bernadine will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Her memory will be cherished in the hearts of her family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ben and Catherine Franzluebbers; her husband, Mel Kampschnieder; her brothers, John, Joseph, and Frank Franzluebbers; and her sister, Mary Wortman.

Bernadine is survived by her children, Joe (Linda) Kampschnieder of Columbus, NE, Linda (Jim) Wortman of Omaha, NE, and Terry (Tina) Kampschnieder of Columbus, NE; her grandchildren, Ryan (Ashley) Kampschnieder, Angela (Jon) Hillman, Shannon Kampschnieder, Jarod (Amber) Kampschnieder, Justin (Liz) Wortman, and Lexi (Jerod) Albin and Ryder Kampschnieder; her sister, Margaret Schrad of West Point, NE; her brother, Nicholas (Ione) Franzluebbers of West Point, NE; and sisterinlaw, Marlene Franzluebbers of West Point, NE.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to St. Bonaventure Church or the Alzheimers Association.
