Putin-Critic Russian Pop Singer Dies

Dima Nova, the leader of a musical trio whose song became an anthem during anti-war protests in Russia, had drowned. His age was given as 34. Dima Nova, the band’s founder and a vocal critic of Russian President Vladimir Putin, also used the song to attack Putin’s rumored $1.3 billion estate.

The song- “Aqua Disco”- was often sung at protests against Moscow’s invasion of Ukraine and became so popular that the protests were then called “Aqua Disco Parties.”

According to reports while crossing the Volga River in the Yaroslavl region, Dima Nova slipped through the ice. He was in the car with his brother Roma and two other companions when the accident occurred.

The musical group Cream Soda wrote an Instagram post announcing the death of member Dima Nova.

“A terrible event occurred last night. In the company of pals, our Dima Nova was strolling down the Volga when he suddenly disappeared beneath the surface. His brother Roma and their mutual friend Gosha Kiselev are still missing, and the Ministry of Emergency Situations has not given up the search.

It was too late to save our comrade Aristarchus, who likewise went under the ice. We will update you as soon as we receive word from the Ministry of Emergency Situations “everyone contributed to the writing.

Formal identification was made today at 9:00,” the group wrote with images of Dima Nova and his pal Kiselev. The lives of Dima and Goshi have ended.
