The season for Kentucky is ended. On Sunday, March 19, 2023 a 75-69 loss to Kansas State eliminated the Wildcats who had been rated No. 4 in November and entered the 2022-23 college basketball season with legitimate chances of winning the national championship.
For many Kentucky Wildcats fans, the biggest concern heading into the offseason is who will be returning for another championship push in 2023-24.
The first wave of players deciding whether to stay or transfer is expected to begin in the next week, as coach John Calipari normally meets with them right after the season to discuss their future intentions. All of Kentucky’s scholarship players are profiled here, along with our best guesses regarding their future success with the Wildcats.
In the modern era of college basketball, where transfers can play immediately at their new schools, it seems conceivable that numerous players from this season’s UK team will ultimately choose to go pro or perhaps transfer to a different institution for next season.
Who is Leaving Kentucky Basketball?
On Senior Night, the University of Kentucky basketball team celebrated the careers of six players: forwards Oscar Tshiebwe and Jacob Toppin, and guards Brennan Canada, CJ Fredrick, Antonio Reeves, and Sahvir Wheeler.
Calipari indicated after Sunday’s loss that he anticipates all six players leaving, despite the fact that they have the opportunity to return due to the additional year of eligibility granted to them in response to the COVID-19 outbreak. Even so, Reeves (14.4 ppg) said, “I’d love to be back,” leaving the door open for a possible comeback.
Cason Wallace, a promising rookie, is expected to be a top-10 choice in this year’s NBA draft and will most probably not be returning for his sophomore season.

Without Tshiebwe in the way, junior forward Lance Ware may be able to return to the lineup and play a larger role.
After Wallace, there are two further first-year students. Forward Since February 1st, Chris Livingston has averaged 8.1 points and 6.5 rebounds per game. He is not expected to be drafted in the 2023 NBA Draft, although he may do so anyway.
