Simon Cowell recently pranked the newest judge on Britain’s Got Talent, Bruno Tonioli, by pretending to be shot with a crossbow. A video of the incident has been leaked, and not everyone is laughing about it.

Simon Cowell Plays Dead on Britain’s Got Talent as Bruno Tonioli Pretends to Shoot Him

If you watched America’s Got Talent back in Season 15, you may recall that moment when Cowell tricked Sofia Vergara into thinking she shot him with an arrow. Ryan Stock and AmberLynn were performing at the time.

Seems like Cowell is bringing this joke back from the dead for Britain’s Got Talent. A video recently posted to TikTok shows new judge Bruno Tonioli shooting a crossbow while blindfolded, and Cowell pretending to be shot.

A routine involving the release of balloons was apparently the setting for the prank, as reported by The Sun. With Tonioli blindfolded, Cowell pretended to be shot with an arrow attached to his chest. Tonioli removed Cowell’s blindfold to make the prank seem more realistic, and a paramedic was dispatched to check on him.

The photos show Tonioli running up to Cowell and kneeling next to him on the stage while he is unconscious. Meanwhile, a video clip shows the audience going wild when Tonioli takes off the blindfold.

Victim of Crossbow Attack Slams Cowell’s Joke

Unfortunately, not everyone shares your enthusiasm for Cowell’s practical joke on Tonioli. The Sun reports that crossbow attack survivor Laura Sugden called the performance “absolutely disgraceful.” She continued, “People will be watching who have lost loved ones with such a lethal weapon. For the life of me, I just don’t get the humor in that.

The Sun as aforementioned claims that BGT producers are “in panic” over whether or not to air the prank when the show returns to ITV later this year. “For a minute he really believed something had gone drastically wrong,” the insider said of Tonioli.

After the death of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins in 2021 during the production of the film Rust, even Tonioli believes the prank was “far over the top and unacceptable,” according to the source. Alec Baldwin, one of the actors involved, has been accused of involuntary manslaughter.
