Taylor Swift has dropped a slew of new singles, much to the delight of her devoted fan base. The Grammy winner announced on 16 March that she would be releasing four new songs at midnight on the eve of the start of her The Eras Tour on Friday 17 March.
“In celebration of The Eras Tour I’m releasing 4 previously unreleased songs tonight at midnight,” Swift wrote on her Instagram story.
Which four songs are we talking about? Eyes Wide (Taylor’s Version), Safe & Sound (Taylor’s Version), If This Was a Movie (Taylor’s Version), and All the Ladies You Loved Before (with Joy Williams and John Paul White of The Civil Wars).
Before The Civil Wars split up, Swift penned and recorded “Eyes Wide” and “Safe & Sound” for The Hunger Games soundtrack in 2012. Before then, though, you might find “If This Was a Movie” as a bonus track on the deluxe edition of her album Speak Now from 2010.
And “All the Ladies You Loved Before” is a whole new addition to Swift’s repertoire, never previously heard. On Thursday, the musician also gave fans a sneak peek of her upcoming Eras Tour with photos from rehearsal, writing on Instagram, “In my Eras era.”
Swift also posted some cute behind-the-scenes photos of her preparing for the trip. She showed out a backstage pass that stated “D.O.H. Pass (Dad of Headliner) All Access” in an Instagram Story.
She affixed the caption, “Created my Dad’s tour credential, we are a tiny family business,” on a photo of her father’s company.
Swift also posted a photo to Instagram that appears to show her mother Andrea and father Scott bejeweling her white guitar. In the caption, Swift asked her fans who created her “Eras Era crystallized Fearless instrument,” providing a list of possible makers.
“A) artisans and beautifully trained craftsmen,” she said, “B) a professional musical instrument manufacturer,” and “C) my parents with super glue and a free afternoon.”
Swift’s parents personalized the instrument with her lucky number 13, so she humorously scribbled, “…it’s not C,” on the next slide.
During the 2009–2010 tour in support of her Grammy–winning album Fearless, Swift rocked out on a guitar encrusted in crystals. After releasing her tenth studio album, Midnights, in November, the singer-songwriter revealed in November that she will be touring the United States again.
Taylor Swift took to social media to promote her upcoming tour, titled Taylor Swift | The Eras Tour. She added eight more events to her already lengthy tour schedule a few days later, bringing the grand total to 35 performances.
“UM. It seems that I will be able to gaze upon your lovely features more frequently than I had anticipated… We’re extending the tour by 8 more dates, “Swift tweeted about it.

To celebrate Taylor Swift’s Friday concert in Glendale, Arizona, where she will launch her The Eras Tour, Mayor Jerry P. Weiers has officially renamed the city Swift City for the night.
According to Billboard, on Monday 13 March, Glendale Mayor Jerry P. Weiers announced the city would be renamed Swift City on March 17 and 18, 2023, at a formal press conference.
“And all Swifties are encouraged to share their smiles that could light up this whole town on all the social media platforms because the best people in life are free,” he added.
