Gina Lollobrigida, an Italian actress, photographer and artist most known for her role in the 1853 film Beat the Devil, has died. The actress, also known as the “World’s Most Beautiful Woman,” 1955, passed away at the age of 95.

On January 16, 2023, Gina’s representative confirmed the news that she had passed away. Fans are using social media to remember and pay tribute to their favorite artists, but many of them are also curious as to what happened.

When Gina Lollobrigida passed away, what exactly took her life? This is all the information we have at the moment.

Gina Lollobrigida Cause of Death

Paola Camin, Gina’s agent, told KTRE that the actress died in Rome on January 16, 2023. Gina passed away at a medical facility, as reported by La Presse (via Variety) of Italy.

We only know that Gina suffered a fall and fractured her thigh in September of 2022 and that she had surgery to fix it. She supposedly went back to her house and started walking and doing other things again.

It’s safe to say that Gina Lollobrigida was a one-and-done kind of star, having excelled in both the arts and the entertainment industry. Beat the Devil, starring Humphrey Bogart and Jennifer Jones, was Gina’s debut American film and became a box office hit upon its release in 1953.

According to KTRE, Gina’s initial foray into the public eye was as a beauty queen, with the publication of her photo spreads in glossy publications and her participation in pageants. Before Gina became a major star, she appeared in a few supporting roles.

From 1955’s La donna più Belle del mundo (Beautiful but Dangerous) until 1962’s Venere Imperiale, Gina was a big Hollywood star of the 1950s and 1960s. She won multiple David di Donatello Best Actress Awards, Italy’s highest cinema honor, for her roles in each of these films (Imperial Venus).
