JonBenét Patricia Ramsey, The American child beauty queen was murdered in her family’s Boulder, Colorado, home on December 25 or 26, 1996, when she was just six years old.
Who Found the body of JonBenét Ramsey?
The body of 6-year-old JonBenét Ramsey was discovered in the basement of her parent’s house on the 700 block of 15th Street in Boulder. ABC News reports that the young beauty queen’s body wasn’t discovered until the following morning after she had already passed away the night before.
Almost eight hours after her mother, Patsy Ramsey said she got a ransom note demanding $118,000, her father, John Ramsey found her body. They thought she’d been abducted at first and called the police, despite the note warning them that their daughter would be killed if they did so.

Despite the police arrival and investigation, the scene was not properly secured. When hours had passed, all but one of the officers had left and that detective advised John Ramsey to look for clues within the home on his own. His daughter was hiding down there.
John Ramsey told ABC News’ Barbara Walters in an interview:
“I knew instantly what I found. I found my daughter, She was lying on a white blanket. The blanket was wrapped around her. Her hands were tied above her head. She had tape over her mouth. … I immediately knelt down over her, felt her cheek, took the tape off immediately off her mouth. I tried to untie the cord that was around her arms and I couldn’t get the knot untied.”
The coroner’s office in Boulder County arrived at the home at 10:45 p.m. to take JonBenét’s body. The Ramseys’ hometown of Marietta, Georgia is where JonBenét was laid to rest. The 1992 vehicle accident that took the life of her half-sister left her to be laid to rest beside her.
Patsy Ramsey, the mother of the missing girl claimed on CNN, “There is a killer on the loose.” This was their initial statement on the matter to the public.

What Was Found in JonBenét Ramsey’s Postmortem Reports?
The Associated Press reported in July 1997 that portions of the autopsy report for JonBenét’s death had been made public and this was based on the fact that her skull had been fractured by a vicious blow to the head.
A garrote was discovered around her neck in addition to the broken skull from a hit to the head. Asphyxia by strangulation accompanied with craniocerebral trauma” was the official cause of death for JonBenét.
The autopsy report stated that she had two ligatures around her neck and right wrist and that she also had minor vaginal abrasions, bruises and dried blood. On the right side of her head was a gaping hole measuring 8.5 inches. She suffered bruises and abrasions on her shoulders, legs and feet.

The mystery of what happened to JonBenet Ramsey persists to this day. John is persistent in his search for answers and has been lobbying the Governor of Colorado for permission to have a third party do DNA testing in the case.
Tests conducted over the years on the DNA extracted from her body and her belongings have yielded no positive matches. There have been various speculations as to the killer(s) of JonBenet Ramsey, but no one knows for sure. Till now, no one has been formally accused of the crime.
