On 9 March, the Consumer Product Safety Commission announced the recall of more than 3.2 million Calico Critters toys that came with baby bottles and pacifier accessories. The toys represent a serious choking hazard for young children.

They are manufactured by Epoch Everlasting Play in Pine Brook, New Jersey. Three incidences, including two fatalities, were reported concerning the pacifier attachment, the company stated.

According to the CPSC, two children, ages 2 and 9 months, were killed: one in 2018 in New Mexico and the other in 2015 in Japan.

All flocked animal figures and sets of Calico Critters that came with a bottle or pacifier have been recalled. Yellow, pink, blue, and orange were the available hues for the bottle accessories.

Some bottles are designed with two yellow grips. Yellow, orange, pink, dark pink, blue, and teal were the colors available for the pacifier attachments.

Sets ranged in price from $10 to $80 and were available from January 2000 through December 2021 from retail locations including Walmart (WMT), Meijer, and others across the country as well as online at www.calicocritters.com and on Amazon (AMZN).

A photo of the recalled bottle and/or pacifier accessory, along with contact information and other instructions, must be submitted to the manufacturer in order to receive a free replacement accessory, the government stated, so consumers should do so quickly after taking the products away from children.
