What is Super Mario Bros. Movie Release Date?
Even if there is the significance attached to another day in the same time frame, April 5 has no special significance in the Super Mario Bros. series. Every year on March 10, Nintendo and its fans around the world celebrate Mario Day to honor the company’s longest-running franchise. The day’s acronym, “Mar10,” is what inspired the name “Mario Day,” however the holiday has nothing to do with the creation of the series.

The new Super Mario movie’s release date is good, but it would have been nice if it came out on Mario Day. On Mario Day, Nintendo frequently has sales, holds events, and even releases Mario-themed hardware. Now that we’re so close to the debut of The Super Mario Bros. Movie, it would be a shame to waste the opportunity to honor the series’ long and illustrious past by skipping this moment.

Why the Mario Movie Won’t Come Out Until April?
The fact that The Super Mario Bros. Movie isn’t ready any sooner is probably the major reason why it won’t be released until April. Although The Super Mario Bros. Movie was originally scheduled for release in December 2022, it has been pushed back to 2023.
The Super Mario Bros. Movie may have opted to avoid March 2023 because of the glut of other major cinema releases that month, including Creed III, Scream VI and Shazam! Fury of the Gods, and John Wick: Chapter 4.
Whilst March 10 would have been preferable, April 5 does have some significance in the Mario canon. The release of the film occurs exactly 39 years to the day after the initial release of the arcade version of Mario Bros. It’s possible that this was just a lucky coincidence, as the date is still off by a day, but it’s still a neat tie-in to the April 5 release date of The Super Mario Bros. Movie.
