The body of the mother of two kids was discovered in the River Wyre on Sunday, February 19th, about a mile from where she had gone missing. The 45-year-old Nicola vanished on January 27 while walking her spaniel Willow near St. Michael’s on Wyre in Lancashire.
The police have been working to formally identify her since they found her body this week and an inquest into her death kicked off on Wednesday (February 22) with a brief five-minute hearing.
Many law enforcement personnel and other organizations including a dive expert firm participated in the search for Nicola Bulley. At the Lancashire Coroner’s Court hearing, senior coroner Dr. James Adeley detailed how Nicola’s body had been positively identified through dental records and autopsy.
Mark Williams Thomas, a TV Reporter said, “Coroner Inquest into Nicola Bulley has been opened and adjourned whilst remaining evidence gathered by the police”.

At the Lancashire Coroner’s Court hearing, senior coroner Dr. James Adeley detailed how Nicola’s body had been positively identified through dental records and autopsy.
He said, needed “further evaluation” and a full inquest would likely take place in June after the availability of a pathologist from the Home Office was verified. He explained that this would give everyone involved more time to gather information and complete any remaining investigations.
He also mentioned that the coroner’s office has asked Lancashire Police to refrain from commenting on the case publicly or in the media. Those seeking additional information about the case will likely have to wait until the coroner announces the official cause of death at the inquest scheduled for June to be held.
