About Karen Steele

Karen Steele Death

As an American actress and model, Karen Steele (March 20, 1931 – March 12, 1988) appeared in over 60 films and TV shows. She is well known for her work as Virginia in “Marty,” “Mrs. Lane” in “Ride Lonesome,” and “Eve McHuron” in “Mudd’s Ladies” from Star Trek.

The radio play Let George Do It was Steele’s first professional acting role. After that, she played Marge in the 1953 films The Clown (uncredited) and Man Crazy.

In the following year, she played Millie Darrow in the Studio 57 episode “So False and So Pretty,” but her breakout film role was as a supporting character in Marty (1955). She portrayed Virginia because director Delbert Mann mistook her for a New York actress Paddy Chayevsky and he had originally cast in the role.
