Hoda Kotb hasn’t been seen on NBC’s “Today” show in over a week because of a “family health matter.” Co-host of the Today show Craig Melvin addressed audience concerns about his absence on Wednesday, March 1, 2023 morning.
Many of you have been concerned about Hoda and we want to assure you that she is healthy and well. Many of you have probably been worrying about Hoda, but she is doing fine. She’s been handling a health concern in the family.
On Presidents’ Day, February 20th, Kotb appeared in a prerecorded segment of Today’s fourth hour with Jenna Bush Hager. Kotb has as is typical of her been using her Instagram account during this time away to share encouraging messages and quotes.
The newsreader shared a post on her Instagram account and said, “Choose hope.”

Savannah Guthrie, another Today co-anchor was not present on Tuesday’s, Feb 28, 2023 broadcast. Although Guthrie was seen at the beginning of the show, she was not seen again after co-anchor Sheinelle Jones revealed that Guthrie had tested positive for COVID-19 and had to leave the show immediately.
Jones said, “It has been an interesting morning for us”.
