In court, on 21 Feb 2023, Ronnie Crosby a longtime friend of disgraced lawyer and heir to a legal dynasty Alex Murdaugh testified that his law partner often became upset during proceedings.

Crosby’s evidence follows marathon cross-examination sessions on Thursday and Friday, during which the disbarred 54-year-old attorney, Murdaugh, took the stand and at times appeared quite emotional, frequently sobbing as he struggled to answer questions.

Murdaugh’s explosive confession that he lied to investigators and was in the area of the dog kennel where he is accused of killing his wife and children was uncovered during the interrogation.

The video was released to Twitter after Murdaugh’s testimony on Tuesday, in which Crosby echoed his teary manner from last week by explaining that Murdaugh could often become openly emotional while defending matters in court.

“He was a theatrical-type presence in the courtroom,” Crosby explained. “And he could get very emotional during closing arguments in front of a jury.”

On the evening of June 7, 2021, Murdaugh is alleged to have shot his son Paul, 22, and his wife Maggie, 52, to death using firearms located on the family’s hunting property in Islandton, South Carolina, specifically near the dog kennels.

Last witness in Murdaugh Case

A video taken from his son’s phone last year showed him and his wife chatting just minutes before the claimed shooting occurred, and thus he confirmed last week that he had been at the kennels that night.

Murdaugh has maintained to argue that he is innocent of killing his two family members despite the unflattering admission and history of continually altering his tale.

“You, like you have done so many times in your life, had to back up and make a new story to fit with the facts?” Assistant Attorney General Creighton Waters asked.

“No, sir,” Murdaugh responded.

Despite the new video’s evidence of his proximity to the scene of the crime, Murdaugh maintained that the murders were related to an accident in 2019 in which his son smashed a boat into a bridge, killing a 19-year-old woman and injuring four others and sparking a costly wrongful death lawsuit.

Murdaugh claimed that his son was smeared in the media and subjected to internet threats as a result of the trial.
