A lot of people recognize Courteney Cox from her roles as Monica Geller on Friends and Jules Cobb on Cougar Town. According to the Mirror, she and actor David Arquette got a divorce in 2010. Ed Sheeran set her up with Johnny McDaid, bassist for Snow Patrol, and the relationship may have been doomed from the start.
Cox has had a fascinating life and a successful career, but it appears that Hollywood is no longer interested in employing the brunette beauty. Even though she makes a lot of money from her time on Friends, the actor probably wants to remain working.
Changes to her appearance brought on by fillers and Botox may have contributed to Cox’s decision to leave Hollywood. In an interview with Us Weekly, the actress admitted, “I have done things that I regret.” Yikes! Read on to learn about Cox’s botched plastic surgery attempt.
Courteney Cox Finally saw the Light about Fillers
Courteney Cox disclosed the procedures she’s undergone and how she feels about them now. Cox made these remarks in 2016 on an episode of Running Wild with Bear Grylls:
“Not only does fame add pressure to keep up appearances, but so does being a woman in this industry. The process of aging has not been… As far as I can see, it’s not a simple task. I was probably doing the impossible by racing against time, but alas, you cannot win.”
Cox added, “I have done things that I regret, and luckily they’re things that dissolve and go away. So, um, that’s good, because it’s not always been my best look.”
Cox discussed her long-term love for plastic surgery in a 2017 interview with New Beauty, explaining that she didn’t stop getting work done until a friend informed her she had gone too far.
To which Cox responded, “All of my implants have been removed. I try to be as authentic as possible. In the mirror, I finally see myself, and that makes me feel better. Now, I feel like I’ve finally started to resemble the person I once was. Ideally, yes.”
She continued, “Things are going to change. Everything’s going to drop. I was trying to make it not drop, but that made me look fake. You need movement in your face, especially if you have thin skin like I do. Those aren’t wrinkles—they’re smile lines.”
Taking on a New Role Forced me to See Things Differently
Courteney Cox’s 2022 role as Patricia Phelps in the TV show “Shining Vale” gave her a fresh outlook on the acting business after a period of stagnation. Cox was given the opportunity to reflect on her own life because her character was also undergoing a transition.
Speaking of playing Phelps, Cox told The Sunday Times, “It was exciting to play a character that was so broken and human” (via Allure). “Plus the fact that she’s experiencing a midlife crisis mixed with menopause.”
Cox reflected on the previous cosmetic work she had done and how it didn’t give her the desired result.
“There was a time when you go, ‘Oh, I’m changing. I’m looking older’… and I didn’t realize that, ‘oh s***’, I’m actually looking really strange with injections and doing stuff to my face that I would never do now,” she explained.
The former “Friends” star had to stop and let the truth of his advancing age sink in. Her admission to The Times that “there’s nothing wrong with reaching 60, I just can’t believe it” was telling.
“How quickly time passes. With all that life experience under my belt, I can confidently say that I have a firmer grasp on reality.” Injectables and surgical enhancement appear to have been a part of Cox’s process of letting go. I don’t see why not. As she is, she is ideal.
