After being prosecuted twice for the 2014 murder of Jessica Chambers, a Louisiana judge has decided not to bring charges against Quinton Tellis for the killing of another woman. Tellis is currently behind bars in Mississippi for burglary.

Jurors Deadlocked in Chambers Trial

In both 2017 and 2018, the cases ended in a hung jury. Tellis was extradited back to Louisiana after the second Chambers trial ended in a mistrial so he could face charges in the 2015 stabbing death of Ming-Chen Hsiao.
Tellis admitted in court in 2016 that he had fraudulently used Hsiao’s debit card and was given a 10-year sentence for his repeat offence. On the evening of December 6, 2014, 19-year-old Chambers was discovered walking along the side of a road that was completely ablaze. That was the next day before she passed away in a Memphis hospital.

Indictment Dismissed in Hsiao Death
After learning that the State of Mississippi wanted Tellis to serve the five-year sentence for crimes related to Chambers’ death, Judge Larry Jefferson of the Fourth Judicial District Court dismissed the indictment against Tellis in early November. After receiving his sentence in Mississippi, Tellis will appeal to the Second Circuit Court of Appeals.
