California Governor Gavin Newsom’s wife, Jennifer Lynn Siebel Newsom (born June 19, 1974), is an American documentary filmmaker and actor. Miss Representation, a film she directed, wrote, and produced, had its world premiere in the documentary competition at the 2011 Sundance Film Festival.
The movie analyses the media’s bias towards strong female characters. Her second film, The Mask You Live In, which she also wrote, produced, and directed, examines how masculinity is portrayed in contemporary American culture.
Since she is the governor’s wife, the position of the first lady has been renamed “first partner” to reflect the equal representation of both s*xes in government. Before becoming California’s second lady in 2019, she served as the city’s first lady from 2008 until 2011.

Jennifer Lynn Siebel is the daughter of Kenneth F. Siebel Jr., an investment manager, and Judy Siebel (née Fritzer), the co-founder of the Bay Area Discovery Museum in Sausalito. She is a native of California and spent her childhood in the nearby town of Ross.
Siebel Newsom went to Ross Grammar and The Branson School, making her the second oldest of five sisters. Her older sister Stacy was killed in a golf cart accident when she was six years old. Since Siebel Newsom was there at the time of the incident, she feels a great deal of responsibility for what happened.
In high school, she played varsity basketball, soccer, and tennis. She went on to receive degrees in Latin American studies (1996 BA) and business administration (2001 MBA) from the prestigious Stanford University.

The 2019 California Hall of Fame class was introduced by Governor and First Lady Newsom, Siebel and Gavin Newsom. Siebel Newsom made the journey to Hollywood in 2002 to pursue an acting career. Siebel Newsom had a successful acting career in cinema, television, and the stage. She has guest-starred on Life, Mad Men, Strong Medicine, and Numb3rs, among others.

Siebel Newsom dated George Clooney in the early 2000s. She went on a blind date with Gavin Newsom to the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts in October 2006, and they hit it off. Newsom had recently divorced Kimberly Guilfoyle. In January of 2008, the couple shared the news that they were engaged.
At her parents’ ranch in Stevensville, Montana, Jennifer and Gavin tied the knot in July of that year. It’s been reported that the Newsoms are the proud parents of four young ones. Siebel Newsom and her family uprooted and headed back to Ross, California from San Francisco in 2011. Siebel Newsom uprooted her family to Fair Oaks in 2019 to be closer to her husband’s job.

Before changing his party registration to No Party Preference in 2008, Siebel Newsom had been a registered Republican for many years. Prior to registering as an independent voter, she unintentionally enrolled with the far-right American Independent Party, before altering her party to decline to state.
