The school of a juvenile footballer who was among the 12 boys rescued from a cave in Thailand in 2018 has reported that he has passed away. On 15 Feb, Brooke House College announced that Duangphet Phromthep, also known as Dom, had passed away in the hospital the previous day.

Dom captained the Wild Boars soccer team in June 2018 when they were trapped in the Tham Luang cave system in Chiang Rai, Thailand. The total amount of time the twelve boys spent in the cave was 18 days.

Meanwhile, the Northern Thai Government’s PR Office said on Facebook that Phromthep was killed in a car crash.

Dom’s death on Tuesday, February 14th, at the hospital was verified. “Brooke House College is devastated to confirm the demise of our student, Duangphet Phromthep, known as Dom, yesterday in hospital,” said principal Ian Smith in a statement released on Wednesday. College students here are devastated and frightened by what has happened.

Everyone at the university in Thailand and throughout the world who knew and loved Dom and who was touched by his life joins us in mourning his passing. In order to help our students cope with Dom’s death, the college is communicating with relevant authorities and the Royal Thai Embassy in London.
