Warrington Park Slaying Boy and Girl Caught on Saturday

Two 15-year-olds, a boy and a girl, have been arrested on suspicion of stabbing to death a 16-year-old female who was found in a park in the nearby village. At Linear Park in Culcheth, Warrington, Cheshire, on Saturday, members of the public stumbled upon Brianna Ghey.

She was discovered laying on a path with stab wounds shortly after 15:00 GMT, prompting the dispatch of emergency personnel. Even though Brianna was a transgender girl, police have stated there is no evidence to suggest her murder was motivated by bias.

Teenagers from the neighborhood have been apprehended and are currently detained. According to Det Ch Supt Mike Evans, multiple investigations are currently underway as police work to determine the “precise facts” of the incident as per reports of BBC News.com.

“At this time, there is no evidence to suggest that the circumstances surrounding Brianna’s death are hate related,” he said.

“Patrols have been stepped up in the local area and officers will remain in the Culcheth area to provide reassurance and address any concerns that residents may have.”

Officers are there to comfort Brianna’s family, who live in the adjacent town of Birchwood, and a post-mortem is currently underway to determine the cause of death, according to police.
