Jessica Valdez, a 27-year-old forklift crash victim is memorialized on Aurora Avenue. Drunk forklift driver in jail. This case was heard Thursday afternoon. The judge found probable cause for vehicular homicide, DUI and $300,000 bail.

The unnamed 54-year-old Seattle man waived his first appearance. Valdez’s family was in court, Jose Duran, Valdez’s father explained outside. “To support her and the kids,” Duran said. The memorial includes birthday balloons to mark where ambulances helped Valdez.

Denika Trujillo, Jessica Valdez’s sister said, “This was not her fate. She deserved much more. She deserved to see her children grow and they deserved her.” Three children—2, 4, and 8 survive Valdez. The Tuesday afternoon wreck killed the mother of three, who would have turned 28 on Friday. Police say the forklift operator entered Aurora Avenue from the west side and drove east until he hit a southbound SUV. It carried Valdez.
