What Happens to Sam and Henry at the End of The Last of Us Episode 5?
Both Henry and Sam perish at the end of The Last of Us Episode 5 which premiered on HBO. Henry kills Sam because he’s infected and in his despair, he shoots himself while holding Joel responsible. Afterward, Joel and Ellie put them to rest on the ground and continue on their way.
Love has the capacity to be both compassionate and cruel. Henry tried his best to take care of Sam, but his efforts were ultimately futile. Henry and Sam may be seen hiding under a car while trying to kick away Clickers during the chaotic firefight between Kathleen’s troops and a horde of infected.

What Ultimately Happens to Henry and Sam in The Last of Us Game?
Both Henry and Sam perish at the end of The Last of Us game. Henry kills Sam because he’s infected and in his despair, he shoots himself while holding Joel responsible. Henry and Sam were two of the few people to make it out of Hartford and they had planned to find safety and supplies in Pittsburgh.
Their little party was swiftly dispersed when they were ambushed by Hunters. They run into Joel and Ellie while hiding out in an apartment complex. Instinctively fearing that Joel is a Hunter, Henry makes a beeline for him to launch an attack.
Nonetheless, they decide to work together to escape the city after nearly murdering each other. There may be some shared interests between Joel and Henry, but their tensions never seem to ease.
Henry is overprotective of Sam and is determined to locate the Fireflies so that they may have shelter and safety, while Joel is looking for the rebels in order to assist Ellie in reaching her destination.
They make a narrow escape to the suburbs from the metropolis. However, they are once again ambushed by Hunters and runners, but they are ultimately successful in their quest and eventually locate a place to spend the night in.
