According to Broward County jail records, former NFL cornerback Vontae Davis was arrested on Saturday for DUI in Florida. Davis’ bond was reported to be $500. According to Andy Slater of Fox Sports 640 on Sunday morning, Davis “apparently crashed into a disabled automobile on the side of the highway, which then hit a person next to it.”

This is despite the fact that only one DUI charge is recorded. Finally, police say they found Davis sleeping on his shoulder; when questioned why he explained, “I was exhausted.”

Slater quotes unnamed people who say Davis told them he was driving home after drinking two mixed drinks at a party. Slater claims that the person Davis hit was rushed to the hospital with “many injuries.” Hal Habib of The Palm Beach Post later validated Slater’s account, adding that the collision took place about 8 a.m. on Saturday.

“Police say Davis said he had consumed two mixed drinks but he refused various sobriety tests,” Habib wrote on Twitter, “so they arrested him.”

Davis was originally drafted by the Dolphins in the first round in 2009, and he played for the team for three seasons before being traded to the Colts in 2012. He stayed with the Colts for the rest of his career, with the exception of a contentious half-season cameo with the Buffalo Bills in 2018. He signed with the team as a free agent in the offseason but retired at halftime of the season opener.

“This isn’t how I pictured retiring from the NFL,” he wrote in a statement published on the NFL’s Twitter account the next day. “But today on the field, reality hit me and hard. I shouldn’t be out there anymore.”

Davis was chosen for the Pro Bowl in back-to-back years (2014 and 2015) thanks to his stellar defensive play, which included eight interceptions, 34 pass deflections and two forced fumbles. Former NFL All-Pro tight end Vernon Davis has a sibling in this guy.

Ex-NFL player Vontae Davis has retired. He played in the NFL for a long time but is now retired. Due to a collision, he has been taken into custody. Let us know in the feedback area if you wish we had included more coverage of the news. Until then, we hope you’ll continue to follow us on Twitter.
