It’s possible that Taika Waititi’s emerald sparkler for Rita Ora will make you green with envy. On Wednesday’s episode of “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon,” the “Your Song” singer showed off the engagement ring she received from her filmmaker husband, whom she reportedly wed in London last August.
Ora joked, “He did good,” as she showed off her massive emerald mounted in a sparkling pavé halo and stacked with her delicate diamond wedding band. “You know what you want and I felt like I really knew I wanted to be with this person and I just wanted it to feel really right,” she added.
“So I may have taken him to the shop and pointed out exactly what ring I wanted.” Maxwell Stone, the owner of Steven Stone Jewelers in the United Kingdom, estimates that Ora’s bauble could fetch as much as $500,000.
“Colombian emeralds are typically the most expensive in the world — with their beautiful depth of color, they can sometimes appear to glow. Emeralds are always a symbolic choice for an engagement ring as people of ancient times thought of them as a promise of good luck.”
A CEO of The Diamond Pro, Mike Fried, agrees that the “striking and unique” centre stone “looks to be at least 8 to 10 carats,” putting the ring’s value at around $400,000.
“The careful attention to detail and unique elements represent the bond and future this couple has together,” Fried tells Page Six Style.
The 32-year-old “I Will Never Let You Down” singer married Waititi, 47, in January. As Ora put it during an interview on UK’s “Heart Breakfast,” “I am officially off the market,” and the “private” ceremony between the couple “was just exactly, exactly how I wanted it.”
