Pro wrestler Lanny Poffo whose career spanned four decades from the 1970s to the 2010s has passed away. He was 68. Jim “Hacksaw” Duggan, one of his friends broke the news to him on Instagram by saying, I’ve been asked to deliver the sad news of Lanny Poffo, The Genius’s passing to you all with a heavy heart. “R.I.P. Lanny” Duggan concluded.

Unknown circumstances led to the death. According to WWE’s official website, Lanny Poffo was one of the first high-flyers in WWE when he and his brother both debuted in 1985. Although he had some success as a crowd pleaser when he read his own poetry and threw Frisbees into the audience.

He really hit his stride when he was The Genius and managing Mr. Perfect [Curt Hennig]. WWE sends its deepest sympathies to Poffo’s loved ones and fans. Tommy Dreamer, a lifelong professional wrestler tweeted, “I always enjoyed his work in the ring & that he had a poem for us all”.
