Accident Causes Temporary Closure of SR-315 North

An early Wednesday morning accident involving a hit-and-run driver on State Route 315 North in northwest Columbus led to the closing of the highway for one mile. According to reports from the Sharon Township Police Department, the collision happened at roughly 2 a.m. after the Bethel Road exit on 315 North. Prior to approximately 5:00 a.m., traffic on the roadway was unaffected between the Bethel Road exit and State Route 161.

A silver 2017 Nissan Altima was heading north when it struck a pedestrian at 2:08 a.m., according to the report filed by the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office. The incident occurred near the Bethel Road overpass. The victim was sent to a local hospital where his or her condition was reported to be critical.

The Ohio Department of Transportation had said that 315-North would be closed for the morning commute, but just minutes later, at 5:50 a.m., the road was back open. According to the Sharon Township Sheriff’s Office, the road is now accessible to traffic.

It is still being looked at by the Franklin County Sheriff’s Department.
