Ruth Bader Ginsberg Statue called ‘Satanic Golden Medusa’

Late Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg also known as RBG, was again in headlines because of her newly established golden statue. Yes, friend Ruth Bader Ginsburg statue is the topic of our post today.  Do you know who established this golden statue after her death nearly three years? To understand the whole matter read here.

The United States Judges have no retirement age fixed, they serve all their life after being appointed like Ginsburg. During her law education at Harvard Law School, she stood ninth among 500 students, then she was sent to Columbia, where she ranked first.

She was appointed as a clerk for the first time by recommendation of Professor Gerald Gunther to Judge Edward Palmieri after being rejected for several clerk jobs because of gender. She recounts, “that was the carrot. And the stick was, if you don’t give her a chance, I’ll never recommend another Columbia student.”

Although she gets lack than her male fallows. Later she appointed the first woman professor at Columbia and as another first, co-found the Women’s Rights Law Reporter- the first American journal to focus on the issue. Her argument for female education in the Law field is as equal as men brought her to be nominated to the US Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit by President Carter.

Later she was nominated for the Super court as associate Justice by President Clinton. Now she create history by becoming the second Judge woman. She raised her voice for diversity and inclusivity. “Judge Ginsburg, who is left-handed but learned to play with right-handed clubs, played golf as she decided cases: aiming left, swinging right, and hitting down the middle” it was proudly said for her by New York Times.

Because her decisions were accurate, and based on fact. RBG creates an example for all, we can’t forget her role in democracy and in the US Constitution. She becomes so famous that a barbie doll is also replaced by another doll in every house dressed like her.

She shares useful advice in her biography suggested by her mother-in-law,  “in every good marriage it helps to be a little deaf.” Before her death she asked her daughter, “will not be replaced before the next President”. 

The Golden Statue of RBG

The golden statue created by Pakistani American artist Shahzia Sikander has “curling braids and tentacle-like arms rises from a lotus flower.” Mian intention behind this creation is to pay a tribute to Ruth Bader Ginsberg for her contributions to the fight against abortion.  You can visit The New York Twitter handle and know more:

“She is a fierce woman and a form of resistance in a space that has historically been dominated by patriarchal representation,” said Sikander. She also served the New York Mayoral Advisory Commission of City Art, Monuments, and Markers. She suggest to called her this work “NOW” it is because now is the time when several women faced abortion issues without their wish. Because of RBG’s voice raised the U.S. Supreme Court in June overturned the constitutional right to abortion.

Sikander said the statue is part of an “urgent and necessary cultural reckoning underway as New York reconsiders traditional representations of power in public spaces and recasts civic structures to better reflect 21st-century social mores.”

“Was there any public input whatsoever before a satanic golden medusa demon with tentacle arms was installed atop a downtown courthouse?,” a tweet from  NYC Councilwoman Vickie Paladino said.
