The release time of One Piece Chapter 1072 is set for January 23, 2023, at 12 am JST. On January 17 and 18, spoilers, a summary, and raw scans for the new chapter were provided, giving fans a lot of insight into what to expect from the future chapter and building anticipation for it.

One Piece Chapter 1072: Bonney Learns About Kuma’s Past and Stussy’s True Identity
At the outset of the raw scans for One Piece Chapter 1072, we see Dr. Vegapunk and Bonney with the pirate trying to coerce the good doctor into reverting her father Bartholomew Kuma back to normal.
A younger Bonney is shown wailing on the floor in the previous panel while Vegapunk approaches her warily. A look into her eyes reveals her deception: she’s just trying to get close to Vegapunk by making him feel comfortable around her. In response to Dr. Vegapunk’s approach, Bonney grows enormous, a scowl of anger spreading across her face, and chases after him.
Once Bonney has control of Vegapunk, she uses the Devil Fruit to transform him into a miniature duplicate of himself. As Kuma climbs the Red Line, she yells at him. And thus marines are dispatched to the scene to capture Kuma. Above, we see a wounded Kuma climbing the Red Line despite the warning shots from the marines. On Egghead Island, Bonney continues her quarrel with Vegapunk by slamming him to the ground while she looks elsewhere.
An animal paw print decorates one door, and she goes in. She corrodes the lock with the power of the Devil Fruit, allowing her entry. She enters there and sees her father’s paw print energy manifested as a huge sphere. Vegapunk can be heard calling after Bonney, but she is not paying heed. The room’s paw print energy has deep historical importance for Kuma.

In this panel, we get a flashback to when Kuma was younger and he was chatting with Vegapunk. It’s as though he wants the scientist to perform some sort of favor for him. Spoilers from the book indicate that Kuma begged Vegapunk to convert his recollections into paw print energy and so it is likely that this is the incident depicted here.
As Bonny continues to stare at the enormous orb of energy, the flashback abruptly ends and Vegapunk storms into the room furious. At the panel’s conclusion, the marines once again fire at Kuma.

While Zoro and Kaku were Fighting Stussy pulls out the Bat Bat Devil Fruit
Scans of One Piece Chapter 1072 in their raw form depict Zoro confronting Kaku, who has transformed into an Awakened Devil Fruit. Zoro however is unaffected by Kaku’s strikes and slams him to the ground with a tremendous blow to the neck. Before Vegapunk can issue further orders, Lucci has the Serpahims wipe out the Lab Stratum.

Kaku is then attacked from behind, bitten and knocked out. Lucci looks back at his attacker and sees Stussy licking blood from her lips and sculpting new wings. She is later revealed to be No. 1 “Stussy,” the first successful cloning experiment conducted by MADS as well as a clone of Buckingham Stussy and a member of The Rocks Pirates’ crew.
Lucci is taken aback by this turn of events and demands to know what Stussy is up to. Stussy explains that she was putting Kaku to sleep and invites Lucci to come to help her.
