According to what Carver told Digital Spy, “the rest of season four – you’ve got sort of different threats coming at the team.” To paraphrase, You’ve got several threats in terms of what I’d call the prophecy that they saw – the future that they saw – actually coming to pass.
Will Immortus be resurrected? Do the murderous butts seem to be on the rise? And how are they planning to deal with their own internal problems? Everything in the first six episodes, while complete in themselves, lays the basis for our last run of episodes, which is pretty catastrophic and induces a tonne of introspection in our team.
After Warner Bros. Discovery canceled Batgirl and other high-profile streaming projects to cut expenses, the showrunner addressed the show’s future. The producer claimed, “We are always planning ahead.” The premise of the show allows it to continue indefinitely. I believe those names kind of give you an idea of the road ahead for our team and the options they have.
All of it will become clearer as the episodes progress and events take place. It’s a decision they’ll have to make as the series progress. Carver assured us that, despite the bleak conclusion, he and his team are “very much” aiming to bring the Doom Patrol back to their home dimension for a fifth season.
HBO Max airs the fourth season of Doom Patrol in the United States, with six more episodes scheduled for broadcast in 2023. No official announcement regarding a broadcaster in the UK has been made as of yet.
