Alice in Borderland Season 3: What New Will Happen in This Season?

Alice in Borderland Season 3

Alice in Borderland Season 3

Fans of Alice in Borderland can rest easy knowing that all their questions will be answered two years after the show’s debut in December 2020. You will read details about Alice in Borderland Season 3 below. The dramatic death-game series follows a group of regular people who are taken to an alternate reality in Tokyo, where they must win life-threatening games to survive and get the chance to return to the real world, and is now Netflix’s most-watched Japanese show ever.

Throughout the length of the show, neither the characters nor the audience has been privy to the full reality of Borderland, such as how the players were selected or if they had any hope of ever escaping. Assuming the season 2 finale clarified all that had been unclear about Arisu’s stay in Borderland the only remaining question is whether or not the Netflix smash hit would be renewed for a third season. Find out what happened in the second season finale and where the show could go from here.

Is there Going to be Alice in Borderland Season 3?

No. Netflix has said nothing to indicate or even hint at whether Alice in Borderland will be continued, either as a continuation of the adaptation based on Aso’s spin-offs or as a sequel comprised of fresh content. The streamer’s renewal selections have been erratic making it difficult to anticipate if they would give the show a third season. On the bright side, Sato will also be directing a live-action adaptation of another popular comic for Netflix called My Hero Academia.

How did the second season of “Alice in Borderland” conclude?

Season 2’s climax included the long-awaited clash between Arisu and Usagi and Mira Kano, aka the Queen of Hearts and one of the Gamemasters revealed at the end of Season 1. With the help of Kuina, An, Aguni, and Heiya, Arisu and Usagi were able to defeat the King of Spades; but, when they arrived at the Queen of Hearts’ arena, they saw… a croquet battle. As Arisu sought information about Borderland, Mira issued a simple challenge: win three games of croquet. This seemingly innocuous task quickly escalated into a war of wills.

Over the course of the season, Arisu has challenged the face cards in an effort to learn more about the enigmatic and dangerous Borderland from its purported “people.” He and his companions had been willing to risk their lives for the chance to leave Borderland after they had collected all the cards, but they were never given any assurance that this was not permanent. Mira took advantage of his desperation by giving him a series of dystopian explanations that turned out to be fabrications.

The one-third alternative has some bearing on Arisu: Mira claims he has spent the entire time in a mental institution, that she is his doctor, and that Borderland is nothing more than a made-up reality he created because he couldn’t accept Chota and Karube’s deaths.

At first, Arisu is convinced enough to almost accept Mira’s game-ending drugs, cutting deep into his lingering remorse over his friends’ deaths. Usagi cuts herself, asks for help, and brings him out of his funk by telling him that they’re both still alive and can continue to live together. He pulls himself out of his depression long enough to complete the croquet matches, with Mira becoming the final victim of the lasered ray. All the winners (Arisu, Usagi, Aguni, Heiya, Kuina, Chishiya and Niragi) refuse to become citizens of Borderland when asked if they want to stay there. Finally, the truth of Borderland is revealed.

Alice in Borderland Season 3

The truth about Borderland makes for a satisfying finish to a drama that was essentially a thought experiment about perseverance. It was heartening to see our favorite characters (including the young kid Arisu and Usagi rescued from the Queen of Spades) arguing and making up with their families in the real world after realizing the meaning of life is living. If you’re curious about the manga’s ending, rest assured that the Alice in Borderland season 2 finale was faithful to the source material, marking the conclusion of the Arisu in Borderland narrative.

The show’s concluding scene, however, included a foreboding image: a gust of wind blew across a table full of playing cards, sending them all flying away except for The Joker. It’s possible that this final scene is only an Easter egg for readers of the manga, in which a figure named the Joker serves as a ferryman connecting Borderland and our world. It could also be a sign that Shinsuke Sato, the series’ director, plans to make a return to the Borderland universe in some other capacity. Because Haro Asu did create two further works based on the manga.

What to expect From Alice in Borderland Season 3?

Aso’s Borderland prequels or sequels might both make for exciting episodes of the streaming service’s series. (To my knowledge, neither has been localized into English.) The first is titled “Alice on Border Road,” and it follows the life of a Tokyo schoolgirl named Kina Sano who is bored with her mundane existence. She has no recollection of how she got to a barren Kyoto, but she does have the Queen of Clubs card. Alice Kojima, a fellow student and holder of the Queen of Hearts, is one of several other amnesiac wanderers she encounters. The two eventually join a group of twelve people who have been given a hint to visit Tokyo and are required to use their face cards. The death of one of the holdouts however alters the dynamic.

Unlike Border Road, which features unrelated characters and has no real ties to AiB beyond the idea, Alice in Borderland Retry is a direct sequel in which Arisu is thrust back into the dangerous world of AiB. When he returns to Borderland, he must play the Nine of Hearts and win in order to return to the actual world at once. This short story is set long after the events of AiB when Arisu is a school counselor and married… to Usagi!
