After a stabbing at the Crane nightclub in Digbeth on Saturday, Kami Carpenter, 21, and Remy Gordon, 22, were accused. Football player Cody Fisher was killed on Boxing Day, and two suspects have appeared in court on that accusation.

On Saturday, Fisher was stabbed to death on the dance floor of the Crane nightclub in Digbeth, Birmingham, and was accused of the murders of Kami Carpenter, 21, and Remy Gordon, 22.

During a four-minute hearing on Monday at the city’s crown court, the defendants only spoke to confirm their biographical information and enter not-guilty pleas to a related charge of affray.

The case was one of many magistrates court matters transferred to the adjoining crown court because the lower court was closed. Two magistrates heard it.

Gordon of Birmingham and Carpenter, who do not have a known residence, were not asked to enter a plea to the murder accusation. A crown court judge has mandated that both defendants return on Wednesday. A subsequent hearing was scheduled for January 30.

Fisher, a former Stratford Town FC player, was out with some buddies.

Following allegations from the police that there had been “severe management failings” at the venue on the night of the incident, the nightclub’s license was suspended for 28 days on Friday.

Fisher, 23, was killed by a stab wound, according to a postmortem that was performed after police seized a knife from the site. The day after he passed away, Jess Chatwin, his girlfriend, sent a statement in memory of him on Twitter.

She wrote: “You didn’t deserve any of this. I’m so sorry this has happened to you my baby please come home. I love you forever Cody Fisher.”

A statement published by the police and attributed to Fisher’s family said: “My family and I are asking for privacy and respectfulness at this heart-breaking time.”

As a “show of respect” for the player’s family and friends, Stratford Town canceled their New Year’s Day match against Bromsgrove Sporting on Monday.

Before joining Stratford Town again in the summer, Fisher spent a short time in the non-league with Bromsgrove Sporting last season.

In a tweet, the club said: “All of us at Bromsgrove Sporting Football Club is deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Cody Fisher.”

“Cody was a friend to many at the club and we send our deepest condolences to his family and loved ones.”

Players from Birmingham City and Hull City shared a moment of silence in honor of Fisher before their Sky Bet Championship match on Friday at St. Andrew’s.
