Bryan Kohberger's Childhood Friend Gives New Information on Idaho Murder Suspect

On Tuesday, the 28-year-old man accused of the savage killings of four University of Idaho students while they slept is scheduled to appear in court.

Four first-degree murder charges have been filed against Bryan Kohberger. Thousands of miles away from the crime scene, in Pennsylvania, he was apprehended on Friday.

His attorney said he’ll waive his extradition hearing because he’s “eager to be exonerated.”

A childhood acquaintance is now sharing new information on the 28-year-old graduate student charged with the savage stabbings.

In an interview with ABC News, Kohberger’s boyhood friend Thomas described the Idaho murder suspect as “nasty” in high school and said Kohberger was desperate to be perceived as dominant.

“He would, like, grapple me and put me in headlocks and arm bars and stuff like that,” Thomas said.

The family of Kohberger issued a statement that reads:

“First and foremost, we care deeply for the four families who have lost their precious children. No words can adequately express our sadness, and we pray daily for them. We will continue to let the legal process unfold and as a family, we will love and support our son and brother. We have fully cooperated with law enforcement agencies to seek the truth and promote his presumption of innocence rather than judge unknown facts and make erroneous assumptions. We respect privacy in this matter as our family and the families suffering a loss can move forward through the legal process.”

After housemates Kaylee Goncalves, 21, Madison Mogen, 21, Xana Kernodle, 20, and Ethan Chapin, 20, were found fatally stabbed in their off-campus apartment in November, the small city of Moscow, Idaho, has been in a state of fear for weeks.

According to Kohberger’s attorney, Bryan’s father took a plane from his Poconos home to Washington before taking a planned cross-country journey back to Pennsylvania.

“Driving cross country took them about two and a half days. Mr. Kohberger indicated that Bryan was acting normal and not out of character during that drive from Washington,” the lawyer said.

After Bryan was detained early on Friday morning, the Kohbergers’ automobile was removed from their house. Kohberger is eager to get his life back together and go home to Idaho, according to the Monroe County top public defense.

However, Moscow police stated they are sure they have apprehended the lone person accountable for the killings. They are still looking for a fixed-blade knife that they claim was used in the murder. The police chief said they hope more people will come forward with information now that the community has a name and a face.

“We have a lot of work to do still; that’s why we’re asking people if you knew this individual contact us,” he said.
