What is the Story of Jose Andres’ new show?
In his new Discovery+ series, Chef Jose Andres brings his daughters to Spain to experience the country’s cuisine and culture firsthand. In the upcoming docuseries, the Spanish-American chef gets back to his roots. The renowned chef Jose Andres is going back to his homeland of Spain for a new documentary series. Jose Andres and Family in Spain is a Discovery+ series in which Andres travels to his native Spain with his three daughters and prepares some of the regional dishes that influenced his career.
In the first trailer, Andres says, “Spain is the land where I was born and where my passion for cooking began.” The series premieres on December 27th, just in time for a post-Christmas binge. “Spain is in my blood and its cuisine has shaped me into the chef I am today, someone who takes great joy in feeding people from all over the world.”
Andres and his three daughters, Carlota, Ines and Lucia are shown in the preview eating their way across Spain and experiencing its culture. Cities like Barcelona and Madrid are on the itinerary as is Andres’ hometown of Roses, Catalonia where he got his start at the legendary and now defunct restaurant El Bulli.
It is revealed in the video that Andres immigrated to the United States when he was in his twenties settling in Maryland to raise a family. Now he wants to show them his hometown and serve them the foods that influenced him as a kid.
He says of his daughters, “I want them to see it all, learn it all and taste it all.” Tapas, gazpacho and paella may seem like simple, iconic dishes but they are just the tip of the iceberg of the sophisticated and unique cuisine that can be found in my country of origin. Recent news stories have focused on the humanitarian efforts of Andres. He founded World Central Kitchen, an organization that distributes food to those in need more than a decade ago in the wake of the devastating 2010 earthquake in Hatiti.
Since its inception, this charity has provided millions of meals to those in need around the world. As early as February shortly after Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, Andres announced that World Central Kitchen would be delivering meals to refugees at the border between Ukraine and Poland.
Where to Watch Jose Andres’ New Show?
The show premieres December 27, 2022 on Discovery+. The renowned chef Jose Andres is going back to his homeland of Spain for a new documentary series. Jose Andres and Family in Spain is a Discovery+ series in which Andres travels to his native Spain with his three daughters and prepares some of the regional dishes that influenced his career.
Having Jose Andres as a father can’t have been easy all the time, can it? The native Spaniard moves through life with a certain ease from house to restaurant to conference to set to the disaster zone. Surely his kids have had to share his time because he’s become a father figure to so many people around the world bringing food to the hungry wherever he goes.
The good side of Andres’s quarantine was getting to watch him in his natural habitat: in the kitchen preparing meals for his three daughters. Andres dancing and cooking with Carlota and Ines while singing off-key to Bastille’s “Pompeii” while his daughters look amused and embarrassed is not an emotion one often encounters in life let alone during a pandemic.
While the videos’ stated topic was domestic cooking, Andres and his kids really were peddling optimism and positivity in the wake of the pandemic’s earliest days. I hate to say it but the videos were contagious. Some enterprising TV producers obviously saw potential in the family dynamic between the Spanish chef and his American-born daughters to make a successful limited series.
Eventually after more than two years on December 27th, Discovery Plus will premiere the six-part series “Jose Andres and Family in Spain” which was made by London-based Nutopia in collaboration with Jose Andres Media.
Why Jose Andres Says it is acceptable to drink wine in the morning?
Jose Andres Approves of Morning Wine and Other Nuggets of Advice from His Discovery+ Show. You’ve probably seen Spanish chef Jose Andres on TV if you have even a passing interest in watching people cook. It was during his time as host of Made in Spain on PBS in the United States that the world discovered the celebrity chef’s charm and charisma.
James Beard Award winner and force behind Spanish cuisine in America is better known to some audiences as the silly man who danced with his adult daughters in the kitchen on TikTok during the early months of the pandemic. I would film us in the kitchen and then upload the clips to YouTube, Andres explains.
The segments were hilarious, frequently ended with him breaking out into song and dance from his overexuberance and were fueled by wine. I asked my daughters, Are you up to doing a show? because it gained so much traction online. They eventually said, OK! maybe yes.
The result entitled Jose Andres and Family in Spain premieres on Discovery+ today. The chef and his three kids, Carlota, Ines and Lucia travel across Spain over the course of the docuseries’ six episodes eating their way through the country and participating in uniquely Spanish customs along the way.
