Are there any upcoming The Handmaid’s Tale season 6 spoilers?

Recall that June and Luke (O-T Fagbenle) parted ways after he turned himself into Canadian police in the season 5 finale cliffhanger. With her youngest daughter Nichole, June could board the refugee train thanks to this turning point. In a startling turn of events, she discovered Serena (Yvonne Strahovski) and her infant son, Noah, among the Gilead refugees.

Like the other books in The Handmaid’s Tale series, June was left alone to carry out a crucial task. Her goal this time was to get to Hawaii and, finally, Vancouver. Who knows, though—maybe Serena may follow suit. There will undoubtedly be a lot to cover in season 6 after Janine (Madeline Brewer) and Hannah (Jordana Blake) appear ready to revolt.

People were interested to see how the film adaptation would turn out because June never receives a satisfactory ending in the book. After all, it continues into The Testaments. Bruce informed Deadline readers that rather than emulating the 1984 novel, the on-screen sequel would take inspiration from the Hulu series.

Don’t count on June playing a big part in the spinoff, however. “I don’t feel an allegiance to wrap her up the way she’s in The Testaments novel. I want to follow the story and make sure it makes sense,” he spilled to the outlet.

Bruce continued: “I think that in the end, just like before we started the show, they had lived. She’s going to go on and continue in whatever way she continues, and we’re not going to see it. And because we got to see this part so intimately, I feel like you care about what happens to her next, but that’s not this tale.”

What happened at the end of The Handmaid’s Tale season 5?

Luke killed the Canadian who ran over June as the fifth season ended. They decide to flee when they hear of his passing. Tuello, however, explains that they cannot get to the airport. June would be charged with aiding a flight from justice and the police would have signaled their location and be waiting to apprehend Luke. Tuello offers an alternative: he can get them on a train with refugees traveling west.

With police looking for Luke at the train station, Luke tells June to get on the train. “You know you and Nichole are not safe if I’m with you. So do this for Nichole. Get on the f–king train, OK?” he tells her. Luke points out that if she stays, Gilead will come after her.

June sobs as she tells Luke, “Come find me,” before boarding. He then makes a scene and is taken into custody.

June hears a baby crying on the train as she searches for a seat. Noah, Serena’s kid, turns revealed to be the newborn.

“Hi, June,” Serena says. “Hi, Serena,” June replies. The episode ends with Serena asking June if she has a diaper and the two smiling at each other.

Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter about the finale, Moss said, “It’s a pretty positive ending for the show and the season, which we don’t usually do. It’s a cliffhanger … but there’s something positive about it. Of course, of all the people on the train, this person is her other half, the other half of this experience.”
